Jessica Cutler files for bankruptcy

Washingtonienne, a sex-scandal blog written by Jessica Cutler filed for bankruptcy today in a New York City Court today.

Jessica Cutler's infamous blog written during stints in the Carnegie Library, detailed her sex life with six men, including a Senate colleague and some older men who she wrote "paid much of her living expenses." Not sure if that little tidbit makes her some sort of a prostitute or not, but that's not the issue here -- or is it?

The spicy blog eventually cost Jessica Cutler her job and later her dignity (if any remained) when her ex-boyfriend sued her for $20 million.

This story is garnering so much attention because it brings into focus an issue that plagues many bloggers (just like Jessica Cutler) on a daily basis...Freedom of Speech vs. Privacy. At what point does a blog cross the line? It is no easy matter to decide and from the looks of things, the issue will probably make it all the way to the Supreme Court before a decision is made.

Think about it from your own personal blogging experience. Do you ever cross the line? Has anyone ever included you in a blog post that crossed the line? If so, do you feel like you are a victim who deserves some sort of payout?

Next time you spend some time in the Carnegie Library, think of Jessica Cuter and her exploits...
